Chance to take part in the Council’s Draft Housing Strategy 2019-2030Posted 06.12.18
The Environment, Housing & Planning Team of Gateshead Council have asked me to signpost GPLA members to the Council’s Draft Housing Strategy 2019-2030. Please see below for information:
Consultation has started on the Draft Gateshead Housing Strategy 2019-2030 for a six week period until 16th December 2018.
The Draft Housing Strategy sets out how we aim to deliver the homes we need for the future, and ensure our homes support health and wellbeing and help our residents to thrive. It provides a policy framework for the Council’s housing-related functions and activity, building on the key housing objectives set out in our current 2013-18 Housing Strategy.
The aims of the Draft Strategy are set out under three headings:
Housing Supply – to help ensure we have the right number, type and quality of homes in Gateshead that will meet the future needs and aspirations of our residents.
Housing Standards – to drive up the standard of housing across Gateshead both of our existing homes and new build homes, ensuring homes are safe and support the health and wellbeing of our residents
Housing Support – to ensure the most appropriate and effective range of housing related support is available to residents that need it, helping them to find and manage a home which meets their needs and promotes their independence and wellbeing.
We encourage you to make representations via the Council’s consultation portal using the link below where the Draft Strategy is available to view and download. Please let us know what you think, your views count.
All responses will be reviewed and used towards the final Housing Strategy.
Whilst we would like you to respond to the consultation via the consultation portal, if you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Environment, Housing and Planning Team DebbieCassidy@gateshead.gov.uk or on 0191 4333945.
